If you’re nowhere near one of the twelve pilot AT&T stores getting Microsoft’s nifty Surface touchscreen-table, you may be left wondering what all the fuss is about.  Neither AT&T nor Microsoft want that, so they’d like you to take a look at the Atlanta store, previewed in this video, and see how surprisingly bemused customers can be readily educated by earnest-looking salespeople.

Microsoft Surface and AT&T

Surface is a multitouch horizontal display which responds not only to touch but to different handsets placed upon it; at first AT&T will be using it to show coverage maps, display cellphone specs and comparison charts, and suggest accessories, but in the future you’ll be able to take content from your old cellphone - images, music, video and other files - and wirelessly funnel it to your new handset.

It’ll be in selected stores in New York City, Atlanta, San Antonio and San Francisco from April 7th.
