For a long time one of the more popular devices on the T-Mobile network was the Sidekick line from Danger. There are many Sidekick devices on the network and every one of them has been having a data outage over the last few days that are still happening.

Users of the devices can only make calls and receive text. Any functions that need the Danger services like data, email, and Internet access are offline. The biggest issue may well be the fact that contacts are reportedly offline as well.
T-Mobile originally said that the service would be up and running by the end of last night. So far, data service is still not repaired and there has been no official reason offered as to why the outage is happening.

Yes, unless you have contacts saved to your SIM card – you cannot access your contact lists. All e-mail, instant messaging, and up until last night, web browsing has been down since the early hours of Friday morning.
Internet has been sporadic and slow since it was restored yesterday.
It’s even useless as a clock unless you go and manually reset.
T-Mobile has handled this in a very poor fashion and I’m glad I am out of contract.
HUGE inconvenience! No answers from T-Mobile!!! Unbelievable!
even better is that when data came back online for me last night, social networks were left wide open, every log in attempt to myspace or fb that i made took me into someone elses acct! a billion log in attempts only took me into a billion other ppls pages and them into mine appearantly, cause they changed everything in my acct, including my bday making me 16 again lol!! of course tmobile did nothing for me, and myspace didnt either… im beginning to wonder about the actual security on this wonderful Danger Network…
I for one enjoyed my Sidekick even though some design features left alot to be desired. Such as the usb port never could be used so why put it there? The address book isn’t easily exported for preservation outside of Danger.
At one time T-Mobile was an excellent network and has seemed to lag behind other networks. The intermittent lapse of coverage left a lot to be desired… I have been EXTREMELY patient with t-Mobile BUT the latest (and lasting) episode tells me it’s time to say goodbye.
I’m waiting for the HTC Touch Pro 2 by Sprint to be available for a reasonable $149 dollars before I cut and run into their arms. Mind you – I’d done the Blackberry route and I just really dislike the keyboard.
This outage is an outrage. If I could still access my account on my desktop that would be one thing. BUT I cannot even check online! This is TOO MUCH to take. I can imagine the paralysis some SK users feel if all of their business calendars and contacts were inaccessible – MAJOR FREAK-OUT TIME! So no – that is unacceptable – t-Mobile. You shot yourself in your own foot by not updating your technology and apps for ‘formerly’ loyal Sidekickers.
S’long…
I talked to the cust service reps, it’s not their fault, and they have a hard job for sure. That being said, they have NOTHING to offer other than a lousy credit? Pathetic. I wanted a loaner phone..so I could at least use my NON AVAILABLE contacts. They said they could not do that because they would obviously need too many phones. Great, so we are fucked by Danger’s platform and T Mobile’s lack of a backup plan. I cannot wait to leave this shitty company. Talk about taking yours customers for granted.
THANK GOD I DONT HAVE T-MOBILE CONTRACT…I AM GOING TO GET THE FUCK OUT OF T-MOBILE…THIS WAS REALLY THIRD TIMES OF OUTAGE…NO EXCUSE AND IT SHOULDN’T HAVE HAPPENED AGAIN BUT THEY DID. SO WHO IS BLAMING T-MOBILE OR DANGERS? ANSWER IS BOTH OF THEM…PERIOD!!! I AM LOOKING INTO VERIZON AND ATT…I DONT CARE HOW MUCH IT WILL COST ME.
tmobile lost all users data forever!! What a crock of sh.. company they are. There IT department forgot the three B’s of IT management: backup backup backup. They must be run by the scarecrow from the Wizard of OZ and he never got to see the WIZARD to get a brain! Absolutely stunning in this day and age and just goes to show you how much tmobile thought of it’s customers by not backing things up in at least triplicate. I back up all personal information in QUADRUPLICATE tmobile. I have seen duplicate sets crash at the same time and so the only protection is triplicate plus an off-site emergency backup in case my house burns down and melts all my hard drives. What were you guys doing tmobile? Probably thinking just like that scam artist Madoff? Well, I’m not amused and you lost me thousands of dollars of registration/software codes that are irreplaceable because I assumed jeeze they are a big company there is no way they would loose my data and god damn it they did.
Everyone with a sidekick is going to get the hell out of tmobile they are going to loose about one hundred thousand customers. That’s about 30 million a year minimum.
