T-Mobile is really pulling out all the stops for the launch of the first Android phone ever, the T-Mobile G1. They seem to want to make sure potential users of the phones get quick transfer speeds asap. That’s why they’re launching 3G HSDPA coverage in 21 new markets from now until mid-October–when the new phone launches.
With these 3G networks in place, users will be able to experience 1Mbps downloads. Six more markets will then be added before the year is out. Check out the list of areas that currently get 3G service:
- Austin,
- Baltimore,
- Boston,
- Dallas,
- Houston,
- Las Vegas,
- Miami,
- Minneapolis,
- New York (including northern New Jersey and Long Island),
- Phoenix,
- Portland,
- San Antonio,
- San Diego
Once the G1 launches, the following markets will also be included:
- Atlanta,
- Chicago,
- Los Angeles,
- Orlando,
- Philadelphia,
- Sacramento,
- San Francisco,
- Seattle
And by the time 2008 is over, the following will be up and running as well:
- Birmingham,
- Denver,
- Detroit,
- Kansas City,
- Memphis,
- Tampa
We’re sure to know more come Tuesday, September 23rd when the Android event takes place and Android Community will be live blogging the whole thing, so be sure to check it out. Â
