This week on PhoneMag was a non-stop news fest. With tons of info trickling in on HTC phones, BlackBerrys and the Mobilize event, we have no time to waste, so let's jump in on the recap.
The week started with word of the HTC Touch HD, which caught many by surprise. This slick device suddenly popped onto the scene with ...

C-Motech showed off the world's first dual mode WiMax EVDO USB dongle at CTIA Wireless 2008 and it's quite a versatile little bugger. In fact, the CMU-300 supports the WiMax standard of IEEE 802.16e-2005 and EVDO Rev A. HSDPA wireless networks are also included in on the support list. I mean, is there anything this thing doesn't support?
The super ...

So much happened this week that we better get right down to it. With CTIA Wireless and an onslaught of HTC and BlackBerry news, PhoneMag was buzzing with info.
For starters, we found out that AT&T came in last when it comes to call quality by JD Power & Associates. Plus, the carrier's MEdia Net portal will soon be utilizing ...

When Velocity Mobile launched themselves into the Windows Mobile market at CTIA back in April, there was much speculation as to whether or not their 103 and 111 handsets would ever see the light of day. But the 103 did make an appearance this week, and after some hands on time, this phone is definitely something.
The 103 runs off ...

Announced last month, the Nokia N79 and N85 were especially eye-catching at CTIA this week. The candybar N79 and the slider N85 are truly multimedia devices with 5 megapixel cameras with Carl Zeiss optics, HSDPA, dual-LED flash, WiFi and more. Â
You can also geo-tag photos with the A-GPS. The N85 has a few extra features as well such as video ...

BlueAnt Wireless have announced that they have won the award for 'Best Cell Phone Accessory' in the LAPTOP Magazine CTIA 2008 awards for their 'V1' Voice Controlled Bluetooth Headset. The device, which we had a play with back at CES in January (you can see the video hands-on here), uses dual microphones in order to isolate speech from background ...

Sanyo's two new handsets for Sprint, the PRO-200 and PRO-700, got a bit swamped at CTIA Wireless, but it seems a shame not to give the Nextel Direct Connect compatible devices their moment in the sun. Both clamshells with EV-DO Rev.A, Bluetooth, GPS and QVGA displays, they're the first Direct Connect handsets from the company to use the Sprint EV-DO ...

Velocity Mobile's entrance into the Windows Mobile 6.1 smartphone arena may have prompted some raised eyebrows and vague pessimism, but having seen Vincent's hands-on gallery and two video demos of the 111 (with keyboard) and 103 (with larger, VGA screen) I'm a lot keener to try the pair out for myself. It's hard to make an impact at a ...

Samsung's A827 Access for AT&T might not be as slick as its fellow Mobile TV-playing handset, LG's Vu, but considering the estimated price tag of $130 (with two-year contract and after a $50 rebate) you're getting plenty for your money. Vincent had a chance to play with the Access at CTIA Wireless, and came back with this video demo and image gallery (as ...

It's usually tough to summarise a week when we've had a big cellular show, and this one is little different. Of course, the show in question was CTIA Wireless 2008, held in Las Vegas, and you can review all the coverage courtesy of this tag. Of the new handsets, Sprint grabbed headlines with the Instinct by Samsung, an obvious iPhone ...
