AT&T plan to begin HSPA upgrades to their 3G network this year, expecting to have completed the transition to 7.2Mbps technology during 2011. Samsung and US Cellular have announced the Samsung Gloss SCH-u440, a budget clamshell messaging phone. Intended for straightforward text messaging, rather than hardcore email use, the Samsung Gloss has a full QWERTY keyboard and a powder-compact style casing, together with a 1.3-megapixel camera and stereo Bluetooth support.

T-Mobile USA have launched the Samsung SGH-t349, a messaging candybar handset with a partial-QWERTY keyboard. Offering a BlackBerry-style 20 key 'board and XT9 predictive text, the t349 supports SMS, MMS and IM messaging, together with offering web2go access.

The much-anticipated Palm Pre has now got a launch date and price, courtesy of an official Sprint announcement. Pre buyers will be able to pick up the WebOS smartphone from June 6th, priced at $199.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate and subject to a new, two-year agreement.

AT&T have launched the Samsung Magnet, the candybar messaging handset first confirmed for the carrier back at the end of April. Fitted with a full QWERTY keyboard and numerous messaging shortcuts, the Magnet is a bright orange slab of entry-level simplicity.

Samsung have announced what looks set to be the third Google Android device on the market, in the shape of the Samsung I7500. Exclusive to O2 in Europe, the I7500 has a 3.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen and a 5-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash, in a casing measuring just 11.9mm thick.

Similar to Simpsons Episode #1445 where the town of Springfield was kept up with calls from Happy Dude, customers of Verizon Wireless are also not so cheerful. A lawsuit has been filed against Feature Films for Families for calling approximately 500,000 customers over a 10 day period in February.
