Carbon-Fiber super-strength case for iPhone

Posted on 10 March 2008 by Chris Davies

Forgive me, but calling your company "Belch" and then releasing premium iPhone cases just doesn't feel right.  Still, if you're in the market for a carbon-fiber - and I mean real carbon fiber, not just some plastic mock-up - case for your precious Apple cellphone, then Belch Co. will probably have to be your port of call.  Weighing a mere ... continued »

Next time you're faced with a rack of expensive Bluetooth headsets, just remember how cheap manufacturers can actually get the hardware: CSR have announced their BlueVox2 mono headset, measuring a tiny 4.5 x 5.5mm but still packing Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, simultaneous connection with multiple devices and the company's own AuriStream noise reduction that, they claim, gives voice quality on a par with a ... continued »

Aura Mobile BT hands-free speakerphone for car & VoIP by Spracht

Posted on 04 March 2008 by Chris Davies

Looking a little like a button-encrusted woodlouse, Spracht's Aura Mobile BT speakerphone might not have the stunning good looks of its rivals but it does have a CES award for Design & Engineering.  Offering full-duplex audio, multiple audio profiles with auto-selection depending on whether you're using the Aura in a noisy car or a quiet office, and a 3 Watt amplifier ... continued »

FreeLoader solar charger: 18hrs iPod playback or 44hrs cellphone from Sun

Posted on 29 February 2008 by Chris Davies

The fear of a dead cellphone battery no doubt prompts me to "top up" my handset more often than is either necessary or good for the battery pack itself, which is why I'm seriously eyeing up FreeLoader's Portable Solar Charger.  Version 8.0 of the device - which has both a solar panel array as well as an onboard battery pack - can apparently power ... continued »

Aliph's Jawbone Bluetooth headsets are dropping the cheese-grater casing and picking up three limited edition designs courtesy of Yves Behar, founder of Fuseproject studios.  The three models - in black, white and copper-brown - are called dirty talk, trash talk and sweet talk, with discrete logos to match. continued »

Anycom SCK-1 solar-powered Bluetooth hands-free kit

Posted on 26 February 2008 by Chris Davies

While there's quite a range of choice for in-car Bluetooth hands-free speakerphones, many of them require either regular recharging or a 12V hook-up via the cigarette lighter socket.  If you're like me, that socket it already taken up by your GPS, so you either swap between (and cope with what seems like miles of cabling snaking all over the dashboard) ... continued »

OtterBox rugged cases for BlackBerry Pearl

Posted on 26 February 2008 by Chris Davies

We've had a soft-spot for OtterBox's cases since Vincent ran one over back in 2006 (you should see what he does to the products he dislikes!), so it's nice to see they're expanding their range to include the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 and 8130.  The cases fit into he company's Defender range, meaning they offer drop & shock protection, protection against ... continued »

Sony Ericsson patent water, dust, sandproof cellphone cover

Posted on 22 February 2008 by Chris Davies

Sony Ericsson have filed a patent for a water, dust and sand resistant removable cellphone case, the focus of which is creating something easy to fit and remove despite having a resilient seal around the snap-on cap.  They've also chosen to illustrate the application with possibly the worst images I've seen from such a document; seriously, I'm thinking they must've ... continued »
