I happen to like Acer; the company makes some great computers and has the top netbook on the market. I'm not sure about the company entering into the smartphone market through. Smartphones are different than computers and I wonder if the company will be able to compete with the Apple's and Nokia's of the world.

Acer has been eyeing entry to the smartphone market for a while now along with other major computer makers like Dell. The problem for Dell is that it failed to get any domestic carriers interested in its phones.

Several sites just reported that Acer smartphones are delayed until 2010. But, wait. "I want to let you know that there is still potential for a U.S. Acer smartphone launch in Q4 2009," as Erin Davern, Manager of Media Relations of Acer America told SlashGear. "Plans are still being determined and we’ll keep you posted as commitments firm up".

Sprint officially announced their XOHM WiMAX network in Baltimore today, and Phone Magazine were there for the launch. XOHM promises average downlink speeds of 2-4 Mbps and uplink rates of 1-2 Mbps, with coverage initially in Baltimore and in Chicago, DC, Dallas, Fort Worth, Providence, Boston and Philadelphia over the coming months.
