There are some people whose enthusiasm I can't help but admire, and Steve over at UMPC Portal is just such a guy. It seems he ran as fast as his legs could take him to the Gigabyte booth at CeBIT last week, so desperate was he to get his hands on their HSDPA-equipped M528 Mobile Internet Device (MID), and shot the GUI demo video you can ...

We unfortunately didn't get a chance to visit Bluebird at CeBIT last week, which is a shame because their Pidion BM-350 Windows Mobile Pro smartphone actually looks pretty decent. With quadband GSM, 2100MHz 3G HSDPA and WiFi, as well as GPS with Assisted-GPS support, Bluetooth 2.0 and a 520Mhz PXA 270 processor, it might not have the brand name of HTC, ...

Undoubtedly the big news of the week has been Apple's iPhone SDK and Exchange announcements; not only has the company shown developers exactly what the SDK is capable of - thanks to some big screen demonstrations from their software friends - they've made it available for free download. Sierra Wireless today announced their latest USB EV-DO Rev.A modem, the Compass 597, which distinguishes itself from rivals by virtue of both an in-built GPS receiver and the facility to connect an external antenna for areas of poor reception. A microSD slot is also present for adding memory and using the stick as a portable storage device.

Much excitement at Meizu's stand at CeBIT today, as the team manning the booth were paid a visit by German police investigating claims of patent violation. Telling visitors to the exhibition that "this stand is closed until further notice", equipment and brochures were taken and the display cleared. Initial suspicions centred around Meizu's M8 smartphone, which bears a striking resemblance ...

The XPERIA X1 is one hot potato phone, and if Sony Ericsson is tossing it state side, I’m willing to bet the farm that AT&T will catch and run with it. I wonder how well the X1 will do against the iPhone.

Now seems a great time to introduce our representation at CeBIT this year, Milena, who has been responsible for scoring the fantastic photos both for PHONE Magazine and over at or sibling site SlashGear.com. Pictured here attempting to steal a Mini Cooper convertible and make off with the XPERIA X1 prototype, Milena will also be covering IFA for us in ...
