Droplet Technology Inc. launched their Personal Mobile Video service [pdf link] at CTIA today, promising an all-software way for cellphone users to edit VGA/30fps video footage on their device, even if it lacks dedicated video processing capabilities. Consisting of handset and server clients, the software is apparently compatible with Windows Mobile, Symbian, BREW and Linux, and will run on the devices from multiple manufacturers (including ...

After seeing how much the US government made from the recent 700MHz auction, Canada's government must be rubbing their hands together with glee; their own wireless spectrum auction, for chunks of the 2GHz range, kicks off on May 27th, and Industy Canada, who are managing the process, have just revealed the 27 qualified bidders. Canadian stalwarts Bell Mobility, Rogers Wireless and TELUS ...

As competition for new customers increased, contract lengths and early termination fees (ETF) rose too. AT&T have gone back to the drawing board, no doubt after growing legislative pressure threatened to make a reconsideration mandatory, and rewritten their ETF policy; as of May 25th, the standard $175 ETF will reduce by $5 for every month you're with the carrier, ...

It seems odd, but it's taken Sony Ericsson up until now to release a 3G/HSDPA cellphone for use in the US. Rather than pick some brash smartphone to break that fast, they've picked the Z750a clamshell, available exclusively on AT&T. While the downlink speeds of up to 1,400kbps are the headline feature, the 2-megapixel camera, full HTML browser ...

So you've not got much new to bring to CTIA Wireless? Never fear, just do what LG have done and get a couple of pretty young models to frollic with your existing range while wearing tight-fitting clothes. LG will be bringing along quite a few handsets that we know to CTIA this week, including the CU920 Vu, VX9900 and the ...

According to a poster over at the esato forums, a trusted Nokia rep has confirmed that the flagship N96 cellphone is yet to be signed off by management and will gain a Xenon flash (replacing the LED flash the N96 we played with at MWC had) by the time it launches in Q3 this year.
"Ok, this isn't official news, but ...

Speculation that LG have prepared two versions of the long-awaited Vu cellphone - one with mobile TV functionality, one without - for AT&T has been borne out, as PhoneArena's recently received press shots of the two handsets confirms. However the rumor that the more basic model will lack 3G is unfounded; both the CU915 and the CU920 have 3G, a 3-inch WQVGA ...

Recently released FCC approval documents have confirmed the existence of LG's latest Viewty cellphone; however unlike the existing KU990 handset, which has 3G HSDPA along with its lauded 5-megapixel camera, the new KE990 will have merely dualband (850/900) GSM/GPRS/EDGE connectivity. Three versions of the cut-down cameraphone will be made, differentiated by their suffix: the KE990, the KE990c and the KE990d.
