Posted on 07 January 2008 by Chris Davies

Another CES 'Cherry Pick', Virgin Mobile stopped by to show off their Wild Card cellphone (and an even wilder red jacket), which is priced at just $100 and, for $2.49 a month, lets you access the network's 'Headliner' music magazine and listen to streaming music at $.25 a track. continued »

CES 2008: zBoost zPersonal cellphone signal amplifier

Posted on 06 January 2008 by Chris Davies

Another from the 'Cherry Picks' event the SlashGear team attended at CES today, the zBoost zPersonal is a cellphone amplifier that can turn a network blind-spot into a signal hotspot.  The compact box - which looks a little industrial, true, but all that cabling is so you can hide it out of the way - picks up any carrier's signal ... continued »

CES 2008: Altec Lansing Soundblade Bluetooth speaker

Posted on 06 January 2008 by Chris Davies

At the fast-paced 'Cherry Picks' event at CES 2008 this afternoon, Altec Lansing launched their new Soundblade Bluetooth speaker system.  A mere one-inch thick, it nonetheless packs a pair of 2.5-inch speakers, Bluetooth 2.0 with A2DP wireless stereo and a microphone that, when paired with a cellphone, enables the whole thing to operate as a giant speakerphone.   continued »

Cue plenty of seething at Sony Ericsson as photos of their new CES lineup are apparently leaked prior to an official announcement.  The handsets - which consist of the W350i flip, the W760i slider and the Z550i clamshell - continue the company's bold design theme, with strong contrast colours and some interesting textures on the Z550i.   continued »

CES 2008: LG promise Digital TV on your mobile in US come 2009

Posted on 06 January 2008 by Chris Davies

It hardly seems fair to have another mobile TV service launch, when all the juicy DMB-T handsets won't even work in Europe or the US, but thankfully LG's MPH (Mobile Pedestrian Handheld) is set to roll out in the US come 2009.  The clever bit is that the standard promises jitter-free connections even on vehicles moving 140mph, and can be ... continued »

BlackBerry 8900 series smartphone definitely packs a punch.  BerryShack received an anonymous tip confirming that this is indeed the new BlackBerry 8920. Big dog execs will be clamoring all over this power house of a smartphone packed with a 480x320 new half VGA color display, full QWERTY keyboard, 624 MHz processor, a fairly large 1500 mAh battery, GPS, WiFi, all powered ... continued »

CES 2008: Nokia’s OLED-sporting Bluetooth headsets

Posted on 05 January 2008 by Chris Davies

Nokia has walked away with a couple of CES 2008 nominations, but it's this pair of Bluetooth headsets that particularly caught my eye.  The BH-902 and BH-903 share similar, classically minimalist squared-off bodies, complete with OLED display for SMS messages, Caller ID and phone status, but the former sits directly on your ear while the latter has plug-in headphones, music ... continued »

Posted on 05 January 2008 by Chris Davies

Rocking dual touchscreens, a chassis merely 15.9mm thick, WiMAX for that next-gen download goodness and GPS functionality complete with all the software you need to find your way around, it's little surprise that CES 2008 fingered dmedia's F200 cellphone as an Innovation Honeree.    continued »
