There were rumors that there would be firmware updates for T-Mobile's Sidekick LX on June 25th, turns out that date was a little off. The update will actually be rolling out this week. It will include video capability, stereo Bluetooth support, an integrated alarm clock and several other little tidbits.

The iPhone Dev Team have released the Mac version of their Pwnage Tool, capable of unlocking Apple's cellphone, flashing new custom firmware to it (whether that be a leaked version of Firmware 2.0 or a port of another OS entirely) and yet still letting the handset play nicely with Apple's servers.

Hackintosh and Gizmodo both posted screenshots and a short video of the forthcoming iPhone 2.0 firmware. New stuff easily seen consist of support for Exchange, AppStore, Parental Controls, SDK Support, more advanced calculator, Cisco VPN support, Mail mass deletion. One feature I was hoping to see but not shown or supported is Spotlight Search icons in contacts.

Motorola has quietly released updates for three of its handsets, the Q9m Windows Mobile smartphone and K1m on Verizon Wireless and the W490 on T-Mobile. The latter two will automatically upgrade via the Motorola Software Update program, but the Q9m requires a specially released version of the update tool (offered when 'Verizon Q9m' is selected as model type).

Palm have announced a ROM update for the Sprint-branded Treo 755p, taking the device's firmware to v1.07. Although the file is a reasonable 18.4MB in size, it takes 45 minutes to install and apparently has very vague (and very broad) intentions:
"This software update is a tune-up that improves audio, stability, software quality and device usability"
