AT&T gave a press release today that stated they had upgraded their 3G network to provide higher speeds. One look at the new speeds they give though, reveals that in reality no network upgrades have taken place. Unless there was a cap on the data speeds they allow, then this is the same speed that everyone should have always gotten. ...

Software radios have been sort of the holy grail in mobile hardware for quite some time. A phone needs many chips to operate. Many people in the U.S. are currently enjoying AT&T's HSPA network. No offence to Ericsson, but having read about NTT DoCoMo's Super 3G trials and their incredible 250Mbps downloads yesterday, their 42Mbps downlink achieved with HSPA Evolution seems a bit mediocre. Of course, after a quick reality check it's obviously a significant improvement on the current 7.2Mbps top speed of current HSDPA networks, and the fact that Ericsson are claiming the upgrade ...
