It looks as though there has been some serious worldwide success for LG. The manufacture has announced they have sold over 20 million QWERTY handsets since 2005.

Alltel has launched the LG Banter, previously appearing in the wild as old version, the LG Rumor2. Main changes are the QWERTY keyboard and marketing display image that looks like UK's Prince Harry (would make me look twice in a store).

While we knew it was coming, the exact release date and price of LG's Scoop (aka Rumor) on the Alltel network was a mystery until today. Priced at $59.99 thanks to a $40 mail-in rebate, the QWERTY-equipped slider is available today in three colours - orange, blue and slate - and comes with AOL Instant Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger preinstalled.

Alltel have today rolled out three new handsets... well, new to them, anyway. As well as a red BlackBerry Pearl, there's their own version of the LG Rumor, in this case called the Scoop, complete with slide-out keyboard, and a music-loving clamshell by Samsung called the Muse.
