Posted on 09 July 2008 by Bob Bland

4,700 gallons of gas could also be known as £10,000, but lately I've been thinking in tanks, not dollars. For those fortunate souls free from the tyranny of the pump, Nokia has come up with a way to spend your time and money: coveting their brand new nugget of conspicuous consumption. Tired of your boring Nokia 8800 that's not even shiny?  Well Peter Aloisson has given the Nokia phone an overhaul and decked it out in diamonds, 680 pink and white diamonds to be exact.  It is also covered in 18-karat white gold, as if the diamonds weren't enough.  I'm all for personalized gadgets that have a bit of a feminine ... continued »

Tag Heuer Meridiist luxury cellphone

Posted on 10 April 2008 by Chris Davies

Perhaps, when the price of a Tag Heuer watch is considered, the estimated $5,300 - $6,000+ ticket on this upcoming cellphone bearing the company's moniker is justified.  After all, Vertu seem to make a good living pumping out limited edition, highly-priced handsets with mundane Nokia guts.  However, like Vertu have been accused of, Tag Heuer haven't exactly broken new ground with ... continued »

LG have announced the latest in their Black Label series, a luxury slider that packs a 5-megapixel camera into a chassis the company is describing as the world's thinnest for a snapper of that resolution: less than 14.9mm, then, to undercut Samsung's G600.  And since Black Label handsets are more than just megapixels and spec sheets, it'll be made from carbon-fiber ... continued »

Hard to believe it but Vertu - maker of precious-metal-clad cellphones with ridiculous price-tags - have managed to survive for ten whole years, and to celebrate they've created limited editions of their Constellation range.  Named the Monogram collection, after the Vertu V-embossed leather back, the handset will be available in five colours: Pewter, Green, Red, Skye Blue or Cerise. continued »

Goldstriker unveil gold & platinum Armani, 8800 Arte & 7900 Prism

Posted on 12 March 2008 by Chris Davies

It's all very well having Armani written on your phone (preferably if it came that way from the factory, rather than you scrawling it on yourself with a sharpie) but knowing that anyone with the cash or, in the UK at least, the willingness to sign a new contract, could appear with the same phone rubs some of the glamour off.  What won't ... continued »
