The mobile phone market is a competition hotbed and many companies are finding it very difficult to compete in the current environment. That means that some companies are teetering on the brink of extinction and others are looking at mergers as a way to share the risk and expense of new mobile products.

LiMo seem to be doing well pulling in major manufacturers to use their open-source Linux mobile OS; after Panasonic's P905i yesterday, today we have the NEC N705i?. It might not be as mobile TV focused as the Panasonic, but the N705i? is far more pocket-friendly: just 9.8mm thick yet still boasting a 3-inch 240 x 427 WQVGA display.
