T-Mobile has finally offered up a firm launch date for the delayed myTouch 3G Fender edition. The handset will launch on January 20 and includes a 16GB microSD card along with preloaded music and apps.

O2 has already said sorry for its network woes this week. The carrier has now said that it will spend hundreds of millions of pounds to fix its network that has succumbed to the bandwidth demands of the iPhone.

A new ROM has leaked that has Android 2.1 with HTC Sense that is set to run on the HTC Hero handset. The new ROM is available over at xda-developes to download. Naturally, the software is alpha so it's not something you want to use on your only handset.

Samsung has unveiled a couple new handsets called the S7070 and the S5150 that are aimed directly at ladies. The handsets have a girly design with lights and a quilted looking cover. There is no word on pricing or availability at this time.

Reports came in this week that had Nokia moving mostly away from Symbian for its high-end N-series devices by 2012. Nokia has now come out and denounced that as premature. Nokia says that it remains firmly attached to Symbian.

The numbers are in for Q3 2009 for the mobile phone industry and the most profitable handset maker was Apple with $1.6 billion in operating profits. The second place company was Nokia with $1.1 billion in operating profits.
