A rush of new handsets was debuted this week and among them was the new Nokia 2705 Shade. The device is a flip phone with a glossy black shell destined for the Verizon network. Verizon says that it is one of the smallest handsets available on its network.

Mobile phone maker extraordinaire Nokia has announced that it has purchased Dopplr. Dopplr is a privately held mobile service provider for international travelers. The company had seven employees with offices in London and Helsinki.

In car entertainment systems are becoming more common in many vehicles as are systems that incorporate GPS and hands free calling features. Nokia, NAVTEQ, and Magneti Marelli have teamed up to demonstrate a new system that integrates a smartphone into the entertainment system in premium automobiles.

Someone at Nokia has really goofed when it was putting together the new Mural clamshell phones. The Mural was a device aimed at teens and tweens that promised support for the AT&T 3G network.
