RIM's BlackBerry Desktop Manager software might not be as glamorous as a shiny new smartphone, but the ability to manage your handset from a connected PC is still a worthy one. The company is close to launching version 4.5 of the software, which gets a full GUI overhaul, and The Boy Genius has more screenshots than you could shake a pushed-email at. Interesting functionality ...

Seeing Android running on atypical hardware isn't exactly new, but it's certainly interesting to see it playing nicely with a relatively mainstream device rather than an obscure PDA of some sort. eLinux.org has managed to get the open-source OS working with Nokia's OMAP2-based N810 Internet Tablet, and while their implementation (which also works on certain Sharp Zaurus models) is still ...

Sprint's newly announced Instinct smartphone might be accused of being an iPhone copy, but it lacks at least one thing the Apple cellphone has: a voicemail lawsuit. The Instinct's Visual Voicemail is licenced from Klausner, who are currently suing both Apple and AT&T regarding patents they believe the two have violated with the iPhone's straightforward way of navigating voice messages.

You can't accuse the Windows Mobile team of not loving their product: after the official launch of v6.1 of the mobile OS, the guys over at the WM Blog put together a forty-minute demo video of some of the software's new features (and they didn't even get a chance to include them all!) It's aimed more at consumer users rather ...

The iPhone Dev Team have released the Mac version of their Pwnage Tool, capable of unlocking Apple's cellphone, flashing new custom firmware to it (whether that be a leaked version of Firmware 2.0 or a port of another OS entirely) and yet still letting the handset play nicely with Apple's servers.
"The iPhone Devs have been working around the clock to ...
