One of the features that was touted on Blu-ray films was the interactive offerings that allowed fans to play games and access other content from the movie. Those features required a Blu-ray player that was compatible with the latest BD-Live technology.

Universal Studios has announced that has extended the interactive features of the special edition Blu-ray version of some of its most popular films. The companion application required for the features is available on the iTunes App store.

The first film to use the new features will be Fast and Furious Blu-ray set to debut on July 28. The companion app for the film will offer information on the cast of the film and offer a Virtual Car Garage bonus feature that lets users check out some of the cars from the film.
