Many states have laws on the books that make it illegal for drivers to talk on a phone while driving without the use of a hands free device of some sort. That means that many drivers are obligated by law to use Bluetooth headsets or hands free devices.

With that in mind, a new study from Strategy Analytics has been released that claims the usage of Bluetooth headsets is plummeting. According to the study, the percent of headset owners that say they use devices daily is now only 26%.
That number is a significant drop from the 43% of owners who said they used headsets daily in 2008. Headset usage in Europe climbed slightly over the same period to 36%. The reasons for the decline in the U.S. is linked to users not being satisfied with the looks and style of their headsets. Perhaps some of them are going to other types of hands free devices as well.
