There are plenty of world phones available on the Verizon network that will allow globe trotters to talk no matter where they are. What we don’t hear much about are new 3G modems that will operate on domestic and international data networks.

Verizon Wireless announced a new wireless 3G USB modem today called the UMW190. The modem operates on Dual-Band CDMA Revision A (Rev. A), Tri-Band UMTS/HSPA and Quad-Band GSM/GPRS/EDGE networks.
Features of the device include compatibility with Windows, a visual status indicator, pre-installed SIM card and integrated text messaging. The modem will sell for $49.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate with a new 2-year agreement.
