It seems someone has already unlocked the Verizon BlackBerry Storm for use on T-Mobile’s GSM network. While this remains to be seen it sure is interesting to hear The process is said to be done by sourcing a SIM card unlock from Verizon Wireless, along with updating the handsets service books using software made for the BlackBerry Storm.
After all is said and done the Storm reportedly works with T-Mobile’s 2G-voice network and Verizon’s 3G data network at different moments. The reason being because GMS and CDMA cannot be active at the same time, they must be switched between. This seems like quite a hassle in our minds.
On a side note the VZ Navigator is reported to work on both networks as it usually would. Using this process to “unlock†your BlackBerry Storm does not void your warranty like reflashing the firmware to fit a different carrier. We really don’t feel that the costs of this method are worth the hassle you would have to put up with everyday.

Hello guys. Just had my storm unlocked through customer service. CSF was very nice. All I did was tell her I needed my storm unlocked to travel outside the country. That’s it. I was planning to buy storm. I checked with Customer service before buying it and they have said that verizon doesn’t have any option to unlock the phone. Could you please tell me how you make it happen.
Global support ask me for the number from my vodaphone sim. Then they supposedly activated it on their side. They did not give me a code to enter. As a test I tried an AT&T sim card in it to see if she really activated it. It does not work it says invalid sim. It also does not say global on it anywhere. I am still on 1XEV. If it were really activated I thought it should say global insead of 1XEV. Anyone have any thoughts on this situation? The rep was really nice to me and doing it so I don’t know what is going on. I have reseated the battery already.
