Verizon Wireless today announced the further expansion of its EV-DO Rev.A high-speed cellular-data network, offering Sullivan, Ohio residents average download speeds of 600kbps to 1.4 megabits-per-second, and upload speeds of 500-800kbps. Key roadways included in the expansion are Interstate 224 from Township Highway 581 east to Township Highway 391, and State Route 58 from Township Highway 150 south to Township Road 350.
“Ohio is home to many vital markets with dynamic, tech-savvy business people, students, visitors, and residents who want to stay connected. The launch of our broadband network in Sullivan provides our customers with access to the very latest wireless technology” Roger Tang, president Ohio/Pennsylvania/West Virginia region, Verizon Wireless
The news comes a week after rival CDMA carrier Sprint announced their own EV-DO Rev.A expansion, promising similar speeds. Verizon claim to have pumped nearly $1.15bn into Ohio since the company’s inception, almost $190m of which was spent in 2007.
Ohio residents and businesses will be able to choose from a range of fixed-line broadband replacement services and mobile EV-DO options, with access to Verizon’s V CAST media download service.
