All those lucky people at Sprint get this cool little device called a MiFi personal WiFi router that uses a 3G cellular connection to connect laptops, iPhones, etc. to the internet. Well Verizon Wireless is getting one too for their 3G network.  Information and what looks like pages of a manual leaked out on PhoneArena.com and they’ve got some details about this handy little device.

The MiFi acts as a personal hotspot, and you can connect via USB or wireless.  It has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for hours of portable use.  It has a It isn’t clear right now if the MiFi supports EVDO Rev. A, but we hope it does. More importantly, it isn’t specified how many devices can connect to the MiFi at once. anything less than 3 or 4 might not be worth it, but then again heavy browsing between 4 users might make for a miserable experience over all.

Hopefully we’ll see the MiFi at CTIA from both Sprint and Verizon, and maybe even get a chance to test it out.  I eagerly await the day when my searches for free WiFi at coffee shops will be over, though I assume the monthly cost of this device will be that of any other wireless broadband card. Maybe I’ll stick to that free WiFi.
