The FCC has given approval to another Verizon touchscreen smartphone, the LG VX9700, which is believed to be the CDMA version of the delayed LG Vu on AT&T. Both devices are rumored to be based on the PRADA collaboration cellphone, lacking that handset’s branding but with an updated, 3.2-megapixel camera among other things. According to Phone Arena’s sources, the VX9700 is scheduled to launch by the end of March but may - as with its GSM cousin - be delayed until April or May.

The VX9700 will use Schneider Kreuznach optics, as in the PRADA, have a microUSB port and a microSDHC slot for expanding internal memory. Apparently text entry will be catered for with T9, multi-tap and a full on-screen QWERTY keyboard, as the PRADA gained in a recent refresh.
Two GSM versions of the LG Vu are suspected, potentially with 3G the differentiating factor, and it is unclear what data capabilities the VX9700 will have.
