It’s easy to forget that, while we can have the most expensive, feature-packed cellphone, if the network quality is poor we’ll never have anything other than a rubbish experience with it. Of course, if you’ve ever tried to decode a network coverage map provided by a carrier, you’ll know it can be - at best - vague and over-promising. Thankfully third-parties like Vocal Laboratories Inc regularly test and rate the quality of calls, and they’ve just released the results of their latest US testing. Verizon Wireless and T-Mobile USA come out best, both scoring ‘A’s for Caller Satisfaction and Call Completion.

Trailing behind is AT&T, who scored ‘B’s for both factors, while the analysts didn’t have enough feedback to judge Sprint officially (although benchmark scores for the network were around the ‘C’ level).
“We’ve been following customer service quality in the mobile phone industry for over four years, and during that time the industry as a whole has posted a significant, sustained, and meaningful improvement in customer service quality. This trend continued in the December 2007 quarter, with industry averages on all our major benchmarks showing improvement” Peter Leppik, CEO, Vocal Labs
It’s the 17th quarter that Voal Laboratories Inc have done the testing.
