An email was sent out recently from Verizon to their partners and details some not so pleasant news. Apparently, the carrier will now be charging a $.03 fee per text message sent over the network to subscribers.
This fee will be enacted beginning on November 1st. So, any company that uses the network to send text messages will be affected. This could set a precedent for other carriers in the US, as well.
Currently, other carriers only charge a fraction of a cent per message sent. This does not reflect any pricing for consumers sending text messages. A few partner-sent text messages won’t be affected including free-to-end-user campaigns the text-giving.
