Verizon’s visual voicemail service has just gone live with the LG Voyageur, a move no doubt inspired by the success of the iPhone. In case you didn’t know, visual voicemail is a service that makes listening to your messages much easier.

You don’t have to sit through message after message to get to the one you want to listen to. Instead, each message is represented graphically, allowing you to select an individual message to listen to–even if it’s third in line.

Essentially, the list of calls you’ve received (and missed) are incorporated with the voicemail, allowing you to know who has left you a message, without having to listen to it. Interestingly enough, Verizon’s new service costs only an additional $3 a month, which will no doubt knock a dent in some of the third-party alternatives.
