You’ve seen the photos, now for the video. Vincent grabbed some hands-on time with HTC’s Touch Diamond after the presentation this morning, and shot some video of the smartphone in action. Games, mapping, internet access and YouTube are all covered, and the Touch Diamond’s full VGA display really does shine. Leave us your opinion on the smartphone in the comments!
One of the most impressive aspects of the footage is the smoothness of the animation and the program changes. That 528MHz Qualcomm CPU really must be earning its keep! And considering it’s a traditional resistive, rather than capacitive, touchscreen – HTC even include a stylus - navigation doesn’t look to be too clunky.

I think I just found my iPhone replacement. The biggest argument with my iPhone has always been it’s lack of 3rd party programs which always made Windows Mobile phones shine. Whenever MS left out some great features, someone was always out there to develop it. I know that Apple is planning on iPhone 2.0 and I know that the SDK is soon to be out.
I’m just very turned off by the way Apple keeps everything hush hush. It’s like a guessing game and constant rumors and sitting on the edge of your seat for an update, only to find the update still doesn’t do the very basic things you wanted (i.e. copy and paste, delete all, move all, etc). But my biggest complaint is a simple little feature called DELETE CALL. Sometimes you want to delete just a SINGLE call from your call history. You playas out there know what I’m talking about. It looks somewhat hot when you’re entire call list is being deleted. These are those basic things that Apple overlooked. Why didn’t they sit down with some of the most popular phones and take a piece from each one and just make it down right better.
The only huge reason I got my iPhone was the web browsing experience which is critical to me being in IT. It’s like having my Firefox right in my pocket. I was also in love with how slim the phone was. Now my complaint is the keyboard.
I want a thin, beautiful touch screen device with a slide out keyboard. I believe the HTC dream is suppose to accomplish this. Or is it the Raphael?? I get them all confused.
