When you think of pre-paid, you usually think of just cell phones. Maybe a smartphone or two, with this day and age. But, when you think of a MiFi, you generally think of a major wireless carrier, where pre-paid would never be an option. Well, staying true to form, Virgin Mobile have actually made a MiFi, and it’s coming out sooner than anyone probably would have ever guessed it would.
Thanks to a Best Buy Summer preview event, the MiFi made a guest appearance. When GearLog was there to catch a glimpse of it, they got in contact with Virgin Mobile, trying to figure out if the thing was real or not. And sure enough, the little device that uses 3G signals to output a WiFi signal is definitely real, and it’s coming next week.
And since you’re getting it from Virgin Mobile, it will all be pre-paid. You’ll drop $149 for the MiFi itself (which is a deal that’s better than a deal), and then you’ll pay $10 for 100MB of data per month, or $60 for 5GB. And, thanks to the pre-pay format, if you need to top-up, you just drop down the necessary funds and you’ll be good to go. And there’s no activation fees, either. So, if you’re looking for a cheap, quick and easy way to get a MiFi, without a contract, then here’s your chance. Starting next week, of course.
