The U.S. House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee approved a bill called HANG UP, which, if approved by the House of Representatives would make calls on places illegal.
HANG UP, which stands for Halting Airplane Noise to Give Us Peace, would make it illegal to place or receive calls on your cell phone while in the air. The purpose? To keep the in-flight atmosphere calm, cool and collected–not to mention, quiet.
But not to worry. Texting, e-mailing and browsing the Internet would still be allowed.
I think this is good. There’s nothing more annoying than trying to watch a movie or read a book on a plane and be forced to listen to someone yammering next to you–or five rows back. Seriously, why do people talk louder on their cell phones? I don’t get it.
