Windows Marketplace Coming Soon

YesNo

Last month Windows Mobile 6.5 and My Phone were announced. With this, we knew Windows Marketplace was also on the way, it is just not here yet.

There are very few specifics about the Windows Mobile Marketplace. What can be assumed, is that the online space will be accessible by devices using version 6.5 however, should be also accessible by those with 6.1. At this point, the site looks set to be designed for a mobile phone interface (i.e. a really small screen) thus presentation through a PC seems to knock usability and web aesthetic standards out the door.

The Windows Marketplace was originally codenamed ‘SkyMarket’ and meant to be shipped with Windows Mobile 7. The later version of Windows is now set for 2010 and ‘SkyMarket’, now named just Windows Mobile Marketplace will arrive with 6.5. The MarketPlace will be accessible from both Windows Phones and the Web. Access is available via a Windows Live ID with security subject to a simple compatibility check.
