Windows Marketplace for Mobile copy protection cracked

With the official launched of Windows mobile 6.5 Windows Mobile users also got access to their own application store called the Windows Marketplace for Mobile. The marketplace may have only launched this week, but the copy protection used in the store has already been cracked.

According to a poster on Forum.xda-developers.com the crack has been found and pirates are expected to storm the gates of the Marketplace any day now. A poster going by the name Chainfire writes that from reading the document on piracy protection, the protection will be easy to defeat.

The person found that the CAB files used in the purchased and downloaded apps is not deleted as expected and is easy to copy meaning all a pirate would need to do is give the file to their users for them to get a working app. The CAB file is also reportedly the same for every downloader.
