Two screenshots on the new Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system have surfaced. Steve Balmer, CEO of Microsoft, reportedly proudly unveiled these two screenshots to the world at PDC 2008. We won’t be seeing this version on handsets until 2009.

Although not much is known about the release of Windows Mobile 6.5, we do know that Microsoft will be launching their Sky Market alternative to Apples App Store. One thing that we can see is the effort made to change the user interface to make it more touch friendly for all the new touch screen phones coming to market. It looks like Microsoft decided to go with a more futuristic look such as what we see in Windows Vista. We can’t help but feel like there will be very little change between Windows Mobile 6.5 and 7.
