Wireless charging has been around a while, now, but it’s needed annoying add-ons to work with your existing tech.  That could change, as MWG- who manufacturer the Zinc, Atom and UBiQUiO Windows Mobile smartphones, among other handsets - are apparently working with inductive charging specialists Splashpower.  That means future MWG cellphones will need only to be placed on a special charging base to top up the battery.

Wireless charging works by close-coupled magnetic induction, and the Splashpower base units will only attempt to recharge devices fitted with the necessary receiver.  There’s no timescale indicated for when we could see the first compatible devices from MWG, but given that they’re ODM for several carriers already, hopefully that will be the push inductive charging needs to enter the mainstream.
