A report by the Wall Street Journal is now confirming the rumor that RIM will be launching a touch screen device called the BlackBerry Thunder. According to the rumor, and the report, the device is going to be an exclusive for Vodafone in Europe and for Verizon here in the states. This is in line with what we have heard before.

Unfortunately even WSJ could not get their hands the more intricate details of the device. They could not confirm whether or not it would have 4G, or whether it would be CDMA and GSM capable like the previous leak had said. The report does seem to confirm that the device will be a life long exclusive for Verizon and Vodafone.

According to the report, the device will launch sometime this summer. The article says it will be here to compete with the iPhone and HTC Diamond. This suggests of course the device will be here pretty soon, as the 3G iPhone and the Diamond are expected in June. In typical company style, RIM is not commenting on the rumors, but if the leaks are to be believed, we will not be waiting long anyway.
