I do like to start the day off with a laugh, and this new RFID tracking system certainly made me smile when their press release hit the PHONE Magazine inbox.  ZigBeefis a puntastic inventory tracking system made up of sturdy asset tags the size of gum packets and a USB remote tag reader.  Compatible with Windows and Windows Mobile, the system can report instant headcounts (whether that’s of cars, technical equipment in storage or - as after the cut - cattle).

Optional extras include motion sensing and temperature monitoring (just to make sure your cows don’t get too sweaty running away), and ZigBeef is developing remote monitoring systems that would use cellular or satellite networks to allow you to track the herd from a web-interface hundreds of miles away.
